MIINSTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS SECTION 7 OF 1990 NO.9 OF THE REGULATIONS

CERTIFICATES SHALL BE ISSUED:

A)      In the first instance of the period of twelve months from the date of issue of the certificate.

B)      In the case of the first renewal of the certificate, for a period of 36 months from the date of renewal; and

C)     In the case of subsequent renewal, for a period of sixty months

REQUIREMENTS TO RENEW

1.       fill form “F”

2.       Every organization is to give Annual Report. Even after renewal is effected, organizations are required to give annual report s thereafter accompanied by form “F”.

3.       Organizations are required to hand in balance sheets or Audited Accounts for the ending term. This gives a rough idea of how much the NGO has spent on the projects.

4.       Every organization is to submit a work plan for the first year of term being asked for. The work plan should be accompanied with itemized budget. The information given here assists the board to cross check with the previous work plan whether it is accomplished or not.

5.       The work plan for one year and the budget should be endorsed by the Residents District Commissioners (RDC). This is done to alert the Civil Leaders that the NGOs are operational in those districts. Those civil leaders asked to endorse usually sit on the District Development Committees.

6.       All foreign workers in any organization should submit their present Immigration status, their Curriculum Vitae (CV)/ Resume, Qualifications/ Work Experience and letters from their embassies/ Home Governments on issues of good conduct or criminal record. If the above items are already on the NGO file, no need to bring them when renewing. All NGOs should apply for their entry permits for foreign staff through the NGO board. This is to HASTEN the process and streamline the entry application process. Any Alien leaving the country and the organization before the work permit expires should make sure he/she cancels that work permit before leaving. Work permits are not transferable from one organization to another.

7.       All renewals are fee Nil, until further notice.
