| REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION OF FOREIGN NGOS THE NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATIONS BOARD MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS
1. NGOs intending to register are to come with recommendation letter from their Home Governments and if already in the country letters of recommendation to come from their Embassies.
2. The Home Office of the organization intending to open Branches in Uganda should write authorising the opening of such a Branch in Uganda.
3. The copy of the Constitution should be authorised or Certified by the Home office or the Embassy where the NGO hales from.
4. The NGO should have a letter of recommendation from our nearest Uganda Embassy where the applicant is originating from. If the organization is already in Uganda, Ministry of Foreign Affairs should recommend short of the Ugandan Embassy letter.
5. Curriculum Vitae / Resume of the promoters and Aliens working for the Organization in Uganda are necessary. Photocopies of qualification paper/evidence of work experience for volunteers coming to work in Uganda are needed.
6. The various volunteers coming to work in Uganda in various capacities should come with Certificates of clearance on Criminal Record/ Certificate of good conduct from their home Government Office/ police.
7. The Organisation should have a work plan / activities to be carried out in Uganda for the 1st year of operation. The work plan or the activities should have itemized budget.
8. The Foreign NGO should have memorandum of understanding / Agreement with the Line Ministry the activities fall. It is important that guidance is sought from the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.
9. Every Foreign NGO should have the Administrative Chart / Organisation Chart of the officials in Uganda. The name of the Foreign Expatriates and those of Uganda Counterparts. It is important that Section 13 of Non- Governmental Organisations Regulations and Statute are provided on request.
10. All Foreign NGOs are to pay $ 75 or equivalent for registration.
11. Please provide Postal address and Physical address in Uganda.
12. All Foreign NGOs to fill Form ‘A’ which should be signed by at least two lawyers are advised to come with at least one of the officials of the registering NGO.
13. The Secretariat registers Foreign NGOs who have Officials in the country, Lawyers are advised to come with at least one of the officials of the registering NGO.
14. A registering NGO should Inco-operate its organisation with Registrar General’s Office at the Ministry of Justice. (Get more information of Secretariat on this).
15. It is advisable that Foreign NGOs going to operate in rural areas consult with the civic leaders in the area of operation and discuss with local population the programme being introduced in the area.
16. Present Immigration Statute of Aliens in the Country needed i.e photocopy the visa pages in the Passport of the Alien.
